Spinning Classes

Your Spinning® Journey starts with your very first pedal stroke. Your training journey will require your strength, your determination, an open mind and a case of good old fashioned humility. The Spinning® program can assist you in striving for your goals through safe, efficient, smart training that is both exciting and challenging. With heart rate training and the instructor's ability to challenge your aerobic and anaerobic thresholds, the Spinning® program divides training into 5 course format categories called Energy ZonesTM: 1. Recovery, 2. Endurance, 3. Strength, 4. Interval and 5. Race Day. Spinning® instructors use these formats along with motivating music and mood lighting to develop rides for your ultimate cycling journey.

A 45-50 minute indoor cycling ride using varied terrain, music, and motivational coaching. You will be in and out in less than 60 minutes.

An introductory Spinning® class designed to introduce new students to Spinning® terminology, movements and proper bike setup. New riders are not mandated to this class and are welcome into any of our Spinning® classes at any time. However, in BEGIN TO SPIN® you will receive personal attention to make sure you are completely comfortable and confident about the bike and its functions, the pedal stroke, the mood of the room, what terminology sounds like in action and, of course, how you FEEL on the bike. Look for this class on our schedule 1-2 times per month.

This can be incorporated in our Body Conditioning Classes or Spin® Classes.

Tabata training lasts 4 minutes and includes 8 intervals of 20 seconds, followed by 10 seconds of rest. During those 20 seconds, you will be going all out. Make sure you use a weight or resistance where you can successfully go all out for all 8 intervals. We will make sure the exercises aren’t too hard and aren’t too easy. The exercises should be hard enough so it makes you sweat and breathe heavily during an interval, yet easy enough so you can last the whole Tabata session.

Tabata training will improve both your aerobic and anaerobic system. Because you are performing these exercises at a very high intensity, your body will have to work much harder to keep up. This will cause your heart to pump faster and your metabolism to rise—both are important if you are planning on losing fat. Your metabolism will stay elevated not only during the workout, but after the workout as well. This means that your body will be burning fat even when you aren’t doing anything.

20 minutes of traditional Spin® alternated with weight lifting off the bike before returning to the bike for a full body workout.

Spinning Class Etiquette

  • Text & Chat. There is to be NO cell phone or PDA use during class. Once the doors close, all devices must be in silent or airplane mode throughout the duration of class. If you have a sick child or are a doctor on call, or just have a potential emergency, please advise the instructor prior to the start of class. If you MUST take the call, please quietly step outside. Otherwise, take a little down time and enjoy your Journey!
  • Cross Talk. Talking during class is just a distraction, so please enjoy the moment and stay focused.
  • Bathroom Breaks. The room is dark and the doors are closed. So, please use the restroom before the start of class to avoid any undue interruptions during your Journey. Emergencies do happen from time to time, we do understand that.
  • Respect. You will have neighbors on your right and on your left. Treat them and your front desk staff the way you want them to treat you. Oh, deodorant and fresh clothes are always a plus, too!
  • The Ride. Arrive with a positive attitude. There is a direct correlation between your energy and your neighbor's ride.
  • The Wipe Down. Please use the cloths and cleaning spray provided to wipe down your bike and the floor! Your bike will love you as will the next rider.
  • Be On Time. Empty bikes are released 5 minutes before class starts, so please do not run in and expect the front desk to have everything ready for you. If you are running late, call us! Also, if you have not registered and/or paid for the class prior to the start time, you will be asked to do so before you are given your Studio Pass to enter the class. BE PATIENT!
  • Studio Pass. When you check in, you will be issued a Studio Pass. Find a bike and place the studio pass on the handlebars for the instructor to pick up before class.
